  • Lockhart Arts & Craft 113 North Main Street Lockhart, TX, 78644 United States (map)

Join us for a spectacular mid-week night of music in beautiful Lockhart, TX! Joining us on January 25th will be:

Creekbed Carter: Blasphemous, stripped-down, and a stomping good time: Creekbed Carter Hogan is a trans idiot with a heart of gold slinging queergrass out of dive bars, sewer creeks, and fancy national stages alike. Weaving stories of growing up Catholic around deftly written songs that pierce the soul and tickle the funny bone, Carter creates a unique blend of folk picking and queer mayhem where anyone can feel welcome and loved.

Karima Walker: An artist who has worked in the fields of film, photography, writing, dance, and sculpture in addition to music, Karima Walker self-released her first EP, A Good Year, in 2012. She expanded upon the intimate, sometimes eerie, country-inflected acoustic songs on future recordings without losing her hushed, poetic sensibility. First full-length Hands in Our Names, issued in 2017, added decidedly experimental touches, with layered synths, field recordings, and tape loops interacting with structured folk on a mix of songs and instrumentals. Her second album, 2021's Waking the Dreaming Body, followed suit, employing instruments, electronics, and impressionistic lyrics to capture the fluidity between outer and inner worlds as well as the conscious and subconscious mind.

Alex Dupree: Alex Dupree is a published poet and songwriter living in Austin, TX. In the mid 00s, he founded the Trapdoor Band, an improvisatory folk group and vehicle for his lyric-driven songwriting. He released three albums under that name before switching to the Idyl moniker in 2009. During this time, he also played guitar in Zookeeper, the new folk-rock project of Austin emo pioneer Chris Simpson (Mineral, The Gloria Record, Mountain Time). His forthcoming album Thieves finds Dupree returning to the root of his fascination with folk ballads to deliver songs of deep mystery and timeless storytelling. Keeled Scales will be releasing the new LP in 2022 and reissuing You Winsome, You Lonesome across all physical formats and streaming platforms.
